Private Pilot Course

An Experience within Your Reach

Fly!

It is probably something you have had in mind for a while. If you are an adventurous person, we are sure that

at some point in your life, you have wondered how exciting it would be to be able to maneuver  the controls of an airplane and how it would feel in reality!

Private Pilot

The Private Pilot certificate is the kind of certification that most student pilots first seek and receive when they begin their career as a Professional Pilot in Aviation. Whether you want to fly for pleasure, or for business use, or because you want to start a career as a Commercial Pilot. This is the certification with which it begins.

Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old to fly solo.
  • Be at least 17 years old to receive your private pilot certificate.
  • Obtain at least a third-class medical certificate.
  • Pass a written knowledge exam.
  • Pass a final practical exam.

Ground School (Pilot Knowledge Test)

Students who enroll in this ground school course, will be completing the most important part of the requirements needed to obtain the FAA Private Pilot Certificate. This aeronautical knowledge exam focuses mainly on what applicants must know.

This 58-hour course, which includes flight simulation practice in ATD’s training devises among other resources like videos and stage practice tests, is to prepare the student to take the FAA Private Pilot written knowledge test.

A satisfactorily completed knowledge test expires 24 calendar-months after the month it was taken. We highly recommend, right after accomplishing the goal of passing the knowledge test, you should persevere towards your license by starting your flight training, which is the aeronautical experience. Within this 24-month period, you must complete your flight time requirements and pass the practical test. Other options to keep you proficient, is utilizing our flight simulators through the SIMPILOT membership program.

ATD Fixed Training Devices

SIMPILOT is proud to announce the arrival and installation of its Fixed Training Devices ATD’s with integrated training services as the Air Traffic Control (ATC) live radio communication feature. These devices will be used during the Private Pilot Ground School Course.

The training is delivered by SIMPILOT utilizing the Elite PI-135 Basic Training ATD’s. Students will fly a total of 10 Hours in this device. Broken down as:

  • First Week (3 Hours) Intro Flight. Preflight Planning. Powerplant and Systems. Straight and level flight, turns, climbs and slow flight. Introduction to Traffic Patterns, Normal/crosswind T’O’s and landings.
  • Second Week (4 Hours) Introduction to radio communication procedures. Traffic Patterns, entry, and departure procedures. Ground reference maneuvers. Airplane V’s speeds management.
  • Third Week (3 Hours) Introduction to x-country flying. Emergency procedures, equipment, simulated engine malfunctions and Go-arounds.

Flight Training (Pilot Practical Exam)

After finishing the gound school course, and passing the written knowledge test, you may begin flight training using actual airplanes. So, you need to receive flight instruction from a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). The FAA requires 40 hours of actual flight training to earn a Private Pilot License. This includes completing your first solo flight, day and night flying, cross-country and other types of flight training requirements. These skills can be supplemented in a flight simulator.

Once your Flight Instructor feels you are ready, he or she will arrange the final practical test with an FAA Examiner. The practical exam focuses on what applicants must consider (risk) and do (skill). When the practical test is passed, you are now an official Private Pilot.

  • Must be a high school or GED graduate.
